Hypocrite of the Week

It seems like yesterday when Democrats waxed bellicose over a comment Sen Trent Lott, R, MS made praising fellow Sen Strom Thurmond, R, SC

during Thurmond’s 100th birthday party.  Remarks that were benign and were absent any discussion of race, but as they often do, the Dems tagged Sen Lott as a racist and called for his resignation as Senate Majority Leader just by virtue of Thurmond’s previous status as a segregationist.

Today, seven years later, many prominent leaders in the Democrat Party have been attributed with overtly racist remarks, yet they are permitted to apologize and move on without consequence.  Another majority leader in the U.S. Senate, Sen Harry Reid, D, NV, not only commented on then presidential candidate Sen Barrack Obama’s, D, IL, physical characteristics as a “light skinned negro” but also claimed he possessed “no negro dialect unless he wants to have it.”, and yet calls for his resignation as senate majority leader have fallen on deaf ears.  More recently, in a letter on his website attempting to honor Black History Month, Reid attempted to take credit for racial integration of the Las Vegas Strip that occurred years before he became politically active.

During the presidential campaign, Sen Joe Biden, D, MD, stated that Obama was the first “clean, articulate African-American ever to run as a presidential candidate”.  Like Reid, Biden is no stranger to racist comments, having stated, “In Delaware the largest growth of population is Indian Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a 7/11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”, yet subsequent to making these statements not only were there no consequences for his remarks, but Biden was selected to be the Vice Presidential running mate for Obama, a position he holds to this day.

The “first black President”, William Jefferson Clinton, is another Democrat with a racist streak.  Clinton has repeatedly praised as one of his heroes, James William Fulbright, former U.S. Senator, Klansman and avid segregationist who led Democrat efforts to oppose the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  Clinton claimed Fulbright as his mentor since 1965 and had some very significant words of praise for Fulbright during a ceremony for the dedication of a statue honoring Fulbright’s “lifetime achievements”.  Most recently, the former President during a conversation with the late Sen Edward Kennedy, D, MA was quoted as saying relative to Obama, “a few years ago he would have been serving us coffee”.

Former President Clinton’s wife, Hillary, is not one to pass up an opportunity for racist remarks either.  In the spirit of Joe Biden, duuring one of her speaking events that characterized her presidential campaign, Mrs. Clinton preceded a quote by Mahatma Ghandi with a faux biography, “…it’s from Mahatma Ghandi.  He ran a gas station down in uh St. Louis for a couple years.  Mr. Ghandi, do you still go to that gas station?  A lot of wisdom comes out of that gas station.”

Sen Byrd, D, WV, is also no stranger to racism, having been a staunch segregationist he served proudly as a Grand Dragon of the Klu Klux Klan he was still selected overwhelmingly by fellow Democrats to serve as their senate majority leader for several years.  More recently in a conversation about race on the late Tony Snow’s Fox News Program, Sen Byrd repeatedly made reference to what he called, “White Niggers”.

After a brief time in office, President Obama stoked the fires of racism by jumping to conclusions in a case he knew nothing about in which his friend, Henry Gates, was acting belligerently toward a Cambridge Police Officer.  Obama accused that officer of “acting stupidly”, and accused the officer of racial profiling and then doubled down by accusing police officers nationwide of racism.

Democrat leaders have most recently moved on from attacking people of race to attacking those unable to defend themselves, namely the handicapped and mentally challenged.  Shortly after becoming President, Obama described his bowling prowess to Jay Leno as something characteristic of the Special Olympics.  Apparently, like any good leader, Obama set a great example for his staff, given his Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, voiced his frustration in a meeting over congressional Democrat dissenters by labeling them as  "Fu#%$*g Retards”.

Even the Democrat minorities are in on the act, as the “Reverend” Jesse Jackson and the “Reverend Al Sharpton” have repeatedly proven.  During his run for president, Jackson referred to Jews as “Hymies” and New York City as “Hymietown”.  During the latest presidential campaign Jackson voiced his resentment over Obama for, “…talking down to black people” and “…telling niggers how to behave.”  Jackson’s buddy, the “Reverend” Al Sharpton also displays his racist streak from time to time, normally making appearances with a bull horn and a mob to wrongly and unjustly accuse mostly white Americans for transgressions against black Americans, such as in the Tawana Brawley and Duke Lacrosse Team cases.  Sharpton has also been known to use racist phrases, such as “Jewing numbers up and down” to describe manipulation of data, condoned the arson of white businesses in Harlem, NY stating he would not tolerate “White Interlopers”.  Despite their blatant racism, Jackson and Sharpton have been anointed in large part by the media as THE definitive experts on race.  When someone makes a racists statement relating to black Americans, the media run to get statements from Jackson and Sharpton and encourage the offenders to apologize and ‘kiss the ring” of these race charlatans.

The history of Democrat racism well exceeds these examples, but such action by Democrats always results in other Democrats and their slavish media circling the wagons around the offender, with a subsequent choreographed apology by the Democrat offender, keeping their jobs and then rising to greater prominence and stature within the Democrat Party.  That is why in light of Harry Reid’s latest racist transgressions and his refusal to stepdown as Senate Majority Leader, the Democrat Party has earned the status of Hypocrite of the Week.
