What a difference seven months makes.  An August 10, 2009 editorial in the USA Today, Un-American

Attacks Can’t Derail Healthcare Debate, by Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer brands as “Un-American” the overwhelming majority of U.S. Citizens who are debating and rejecting their current congressional healthcare reform plan.  It was a mere seven months ago when Pelosi and her Democrat ilk, such as Congressman John Murtha, and Senators Dick Durbin, Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid, Barrack Obama, Jay Rockefeller, Robert Byrd, Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton among others terminated their multi-year campaign of high treason and sedition in a blatant attempt to undermine our nation’s war effort and an American President with their irresponsible statements from the floor of congress—a war most of them voted for.  Previously, it had been an American fundamental principle that politics stop at the water’s edge, particularly when it involved our nations’ wars once military forces were in harms way.  Yet that did not stop them from politicizing the war on terror to quench their own insatiable thirsts for power—a completely un-American concept.  They all cried like babies when challenged on their statements and they falsely accused opponents of “questioning their patriotism”.  They responded with the mantra, “We support the troops, but…”, where everything they said after the word “but” directly went to undermine our troops and their war effort.  Yet now over a simple domestic issue, an area where since our founding it has been fair game in American Politics to debate and disagree (one need only recall Hillary Clinton’s “screech” on this issue) Pelosi and Hoyer have done a complete reversal of their opinion on the matter, branding U.S. citizens who dissent as “un-American” and in the process prove themselves to be the un-American ones!  For this, Pelosi and Hoyer have rightfully earned our distinction as Hypocrites of the Week.
