On April 18, 2010 Time Magazine’s Joe Klein, while a guest on The Chris Matthews Show, pulled out a small napkin on which was inscribed the “definition of sedition: conduct or language inciting rebellion against the state,” applying the label to the Tea Party movement and Sarah Palin. New York magazine's John Heilemann piled on, adding conservative Rush Limbaugh to that list, "And Joe's right and I'll name another person, I'll name Rush Limbaugh who uses this phrase constantly and talks about the Obama administration as a regime," Heilemann said. "That phrase which has connotations of tyranny.” Subsequently it has been discovered that Heilemann himself used the term “regime” several times in reference to the Bush and Obama Administrations (once in New York Magazine on January 19, 2009). What a difference a couple of years make. For the eight years President Bush was in office, and the nation engaged in two wars against Islamic extremism in the wake of the deadliest attack on U.S. soil, the left engaged not only in sedition, but high treason, “the crime of betraying one’s own country, esp. by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government; the action of betraying someone or something”. From the floor of congress, U.S. Senators and Congressman, like Senators Kerry, Durbin, Kennedy, Reid and Congressmen Murtha and Kucinich among them, made false accusations against our military labeling them murderers and terrorists, declared the war lost and the troop surge failed before it was even implemented, and misled the nation on the history of Weapons of Mass Destruction and our war aims, committing their treasonous acts before the ink was dry on the war resolution they voted in favor of. Democrats protested radically, used physical violence and vandalism, while extolling movies and books on the assassination of President Bush and creating posters of Bush as Hitler while comparing his entire administration to Nazis. A Nobel Peace Prize winner repeatedly stated a personal desire to “Kill Bush if they could”, incredibly making such statements to audiences of impressionable school children.
Then, as is the case today, the media was more than happy to carry the water for Leftist Democrats, and echoed such sedition and treason on nightly news programs and in left wing publications like the New York Times, LA Times, the Boston Globe, the Washington Post, Time Magazine and on hateful left wing websites like Media Matters, The Daily Kos and the Huffington Post. In fact a nexus search reveals that these news programs and publications referred to the Bush Administration as a “regime” hundreds of times in their reporting, with no less than Chris Matthews referring to the Bush Administration as a “regime” on several occasions. Mr. Matthews voiced his recent conversion, explaining how he now views that term as radical, seditious and, oh yes of course, even racist when assigned to the Obama Administration.
When the Left was engaging in high treason and sedition, what was Joe Klein saying? Mr. Klein called President Bush’s move to stop Iranian terrorism against our troops in Iraq and around the globe “Saber Rattling” and famously retorted about the Bush Administration, “I think this has been a profoundly un-American administration” – HANG HIM! Now that we actually have an un-American administration that is on the march to Socialism, Mr. Klein thinks non-violent dissent is sedition? PULLLEASSSE!
