Obama's Campaign of Hopelessness

The President

Candidate Obama used “Hope” as a recurring theme to his campaign, but as the financial and human toll of the Obama Presidency continues to mount, President Obama’s actions and speeches rather reflect the theme of Hopelessness.
Obama began his presidency with extreme statements on the economy, declaring it “the worst since the

Great Depression”.  He has pushed a strategy of socialism and fascism as the solution to increased national prosperity despite history’s hard lesson that those economic models have been abject failures leading to misery and hopelessness for every nation.  His signature programs, the so-called Stimulus Bill, the Auto Industry bailout, the climate change bill and government healthcare scheme are born of socialist/fascist dogma.

Beyond Obama’s programs, his speeches have reeked of hopelessness.  For example, during the worst commencement addresses ever given at Notre Dame and Arizona State Universities, Obama discouraged graduates from pursuing their dreams, but instead encouraged them to dedicate their lives to “…help our struggling non-profits find better, more effective ways to serve folks in need.”, and encouraged them to develop, “…A lack of regard for all the traditional markers of status and prestige…”, suggesting, “…a good motto for all of us - find someone to be successful for. Rise to their hopes and their needs”.

As a nation founded on Judeo-Christian values, America has been the most charitable in the history of the world.  The unprecedented prosperity afforded us by our free market system has raised global prosperity to heights never dreamed possible.  This prosperity was brought about precisely due to the continuous pursuit of traditional markers of status and prestige Obama would have us shun.  The hard work of those striving to make a living in a profession-creating some new invention, leading a major U.S. Corporation to record profits, world class performance as an athlete or performer-aiming to improve their own lives and those of their families’, is what made our nation great while making it possible for large portions of our nation’s prosperity to be provided to non-profits and charitable institutions.  Without those who seek to fulfill their dreams in the attainment of traditional markers of status and prestige, non-profits would cease to exist.

Obama’s recent refusal to voice support for the Iranian people in their uprising for democracy not only caused him to pass up a valuable and rare opportunity for a Reagan-like legacy, but doused the Iranian people with hopelessness and smothered the flames of their democratic movement.

Obama’s most recent message of hopelessness came during the ABC Obama Socialized Healthcare Scheme Infomercial.   Jane Sturm discussed the case of her 105 year old mother, Hazel Homer.  Ms. Sturm explained her mother at age 100 was initially denied a pacemaker by an arrhythmia specialist who believed it wasn’t economically feasible.  Fortunately, other doctors who knew her and were aware of her mother’s spirited nature intervened and obtained the device, providing her with five more years of life.  Ms. Sturm questioned the President whether his plan would make “any consideration…for a certain spirit, a certain joy of living, quality of life”.  Obama’s non-answer to that question not only instilled hopelessness, but would have led to a media frenzy which would destroy any other politician’s career, “I don't think that we can make judgments based on people's spirit.  That would be a pretty subjective decision to be making.  I think we have to have rules that say that we are going to provide good, quality care for all people…we can let doctors know, and your mom know that you know what, maybe this isn't going to help, maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.”   CHILLING!
While Obama’s programs continue to drive us further into debt, his rhetoric is serving to drive America further into hopelessness and despair.  Perhaps he should develop some of that “empathy” he finds so appealing in a Supreme Court nominee.
