Media Does Matter

In the wake of the Healthcare Bill catastrophe thrust upon our nation by the Democrats in Congress, the mainstream media has immediately begun praising President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic Congress for their “leadership” and “accomplishment” in passing a “historic” bill.  The

same media spent the year shilling for the healthcare bill’s passage and demeaned those who opposed it, while neglecting their duty in subjecting it to scrutiny.

Just five years ago the same media was working with the Democrats against passage of a sorely needed Social Security reform bill.  The Social Security reform bill had more bipartisan support than the recent healthcare bill and was more popular with the American people, but the mediacrats sided with the most extreme leftist Democrats in trashing it, labeling it a “partisan” bill pushed by “divisive” Republicans “against the will of the American people”.  The mediacrats at that time even went as far as misrepresenting the bill and lying to senior citizens that they would lose their social security.

By contrast, the recent Healthcare Bill was passed by only Democrats, making it the most partisan bill ever passed, was pushed by the most divisive president in the history of the United States as evidenced in poll after poll and was passed in the face of overwhelming historical opposition by the American people.  Oddly, the negative reporting and rhetorical buzzwords to which the mediacrats subjected the Social Security reform bill are conspicuously absent relative to the horrendous healthcare bill that will ultimately contribute to the destruction of our nation, its economy and its healthcare system.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously stated, “We need to pass the healthcare bill so we know what is in it”.  Now that the bill is signed and public, it appears its contents are as onerous and unconstitutional as the process used to pass it, yet the media has neglected any effort at intellectual curiosity to recognize and report on the many negative aspects of the bill.

Moreover, praising Obama’s so-called “leadership” for his role in the healthcare debacle is akin to praising Al Capone for his leadership in transforming Chicago.  Despite a year of enjoying the largest majorities in Congress and the Senate, he was not able to close the deal with his own party members for a year.  In the end, in order to gain passage and support of those congressional members in his own party he had to circumvent the U.S. Constitution and resort to the most sinister and devious thuggery, scheming and bribery our nation has ever witnessed.  That’s not “leadership”, it is corruption.

In spite of all this, the mediacrats continue to thrust praise upon those responsible for the corruption, while entirely abandoning their beloved descriptors apparently reserved exclusively for Republicans, such as “partisan” and “divisive”, at a moment in history when those descriptors have never been more fitting, making the mainstream media supreme hypocrites.
