The Associated Press Reported today that Obama learned the lessons of Katrina in his rapid response to Haiti.  The AP contrasted the Left’s version

of a “botched” Katrina response by President Bush to what they see as a more compassionate and timely response by President Obama to Haiti.  However, the AP’s vision belies the facts reported on the front pages of other news sources, which depict a situation as bad or worse as the aftermath of Katrina;  “Panic setting in as relief supplies delayed”, “Haiti Survivors Losing Hope”, “Looters Roam Haiti Streets as Aid Trickles In” and “Security Haiti Deteriorates, Still No Food or Water”.  The grossly biased treatment at the hands of the AP, of presidents of one party over another is no surprise and a big reason the news outlets they feed are losing readers at an alarming rate.

Natural Disasters are a tragic and heart wrenching occurrence.  Regardless of the words uttered by leaders, they are powerless to prevent the human death and suffering, shortages of food and water, displacement due to loss of homes, and security concerns these disasters are certain to leave in their wake.  The AP efforts prove that even more tragic than the disaster itself is the despicable and continuous tendency of those on the Left to politicize them.
