A popular rubber bracelet worn by many Americans is simply inscribed with “WWJD”, letters representing “What Would Jesus Do?”   Witnessing the sycophantic coverage of President Barrack Obama during his first nine months as compared to how they assaulted President G.W. Bush during his

nine months, it is apparent the media need their own rubber bracelet inscribed with “WWYD IOWB”, representing “What Would You Do If Obama Was Bush”?

In 2001 the media gave voice to prominent Democrats who blamed President Bush for the annual California wildfires, the ensuing mudslides and the northeast blackout.  The media chastised Mr. Bush for taking a working vacation in Crawford, Texas during the 2001 recession, wondering out loud if he was “out of touch”.  In 2004, the Democrats and media blamed President Bush for a supposed shortage of Flu Vaccines, eventually discovering there was such a surplus the nation had to destroy excess doses.  The media went ballistic over the Clinton-era rendition program once Mr. Bush was in the Whitehouse as well as the terrorist surveillance program and the supposed denial of habeas corpus to terrorists held at Gitmo.  Throughout the first seven years of the Bush Presidency every positive economic report, including record low unemployment and sustained positive economic growth was laced with the spin of negativity. 

Presently California is experiencing their annual wildfires with no accompanying finger pointing at President Obama by the media.  Mr. Obama recently vacationed in high dollar Martha’s Vineyard during the worst recession since the 1970s, yet instead of chastising him the media opined that it was a “well-needed” rest for the President and at the end of the week pronounced Mr. Obama needed an additional vacation from his vacation since the Vineyard stint was interrupted by the death of Senator Kennedy.  The nation is presently facing an H1N1 Flu threat that originally manifested itself in February 2009, yet no action was taken by the Obama Administration to ensure adequate doses of flu vaccines were available before students returned to school, and the nation is now being told there will not be enough vaccines for the population until after the flu season is over, yet no accompanying media accusations of inaction or incompetency that we witnessed in 2004.  Moreover, Mr. Obama has continued the Clinton era Rendition Program, the denial of habeas corpus to detainees at Kandahar Airbase in Afghanistan and the much maligned Terrorist Surveillance Program, but the media’s silence on these issues is deafening.  Media attention to all these matters has disappeared as quickly as their obligatory front-page body counts of U.S. military members killed in combat and their nightly television news stories of fallen heroes.  

The same media that viciously strived to destroy the Bush Presidency with a constant drip of fabricated negative news to influence the ignorant and the ultimate approval rating of Mr. Bush, now has taken the exact opposite tact by ignoring bad news and positively spinning a weak economy.  The media lost considerable credibility in their failure to vet Obama the Presidential Candidate, and they now continue to surrender any semblance of fairness with their sycophantic coverage of Obama the President. 

In totality this urges the creation of a new “WWYD IOWB” bracelet for all members of the media.  That way, when Obama orders the summary execution of three teenagers in a lifeboat tethered to a U.S. Warship and denying them their human rights and habeas corpus, when Obama appoints over three dozen socialist radicals as “Tzars” to his administration, bypassing the constitutional vetting process of Senate confirmation, when Obama initiates a KGB type “snitch” website encouraging Americans to report fellow citizens not agreeable to his policies, when Obama rambles incoherently and contradicts himself during the same speech on his healthcare reforms, when Obama has the National Endowment for the Arts contact artists to encourage them to create works favorable to Obama’s policies in exchange for grant money, and when Obama dictates elementary school children read specific books about him and view brainwashing propaganda Public Service Announcements that wreak of fascism and mandating a pledge to serve and support Mr. Obama, the media can look down at their wrist and do not only what is fair, but what is their duty.
