Buzz of the Day

In Paul Krugman’s 911 Anniversary Blog, “The Years of Shame”, Mr. Krugman states, “What happened after 9/11 — and I think even people on the right know this, whether they admit it or not — was deeply shameful.”  Though I agree with Mr. Krugman on this point I do so for disparate reasons.  The seditious and treasonous behavior of those on the Left, including Mr. Krugman, in the aftermath of 911 was despicable and in light of what has occurred the past three years it is obvious their actions were politically motivated and without deference to our nation’s interests.

The persistent demagoguery and actions of Senators Shumer, Reid, Obama, Clinton, Durbin and Kerry, Representatives Murtha and Pelosi as well as those in the media including Krugman and others at the New York Times toward the undermining of our nation’s war effort were unprecedented in American history and would have brought about their hanging mere decades ago.  Their hateful rhetoric toward those conducting the war and keeping us safe made their feigned calls for civility last year in the wake of the Tucson, Arizona shooting laughable at best.

Sen. Durbin compared our troops to communist thugs, Rep. Murtha conducted a public smear campaign falsely accusing our fine Marines of murder in Haditha, Iraq, Sen. Reid declared the famed surge as a failure and the war as lost before the surge was even implemented.  The New York Times ran a full-page ad mocking General Petreus as “General Betrayus” the day before his Senate testimony during which our hero General was labeled a liar by Senators Obama and Clinton.  The media falsely reported on Koran flushing and widespread torture at Gitmo, while they provided top billing to Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink and a select few 9/11 widows from New Jersey at every opportunity.  The media prominently highlighted body counts of our fallen servicemen on the front pages of newspapers and on network nightly news programs.  The Left created propaganda books and movies featuring the assassination of our war president.  The Left whined about the Patriot Act and “warrantless wiretaps”.  They decried the supposed outing of Valery Plame as intentional while subjecting our nation to an investigation into the culprit who they knew from the start as Richard Armitage but their zeal to convict Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld during time of war led to a prolonged investigation that was all about smearing and ruining the lives of innocent public servants--the media longed for “Fitzmas”.  Those on the Left like Mr. Krugman whined about $167 billion to $400 billion deficits that were funding the two wars, but now as President Obama has run up $1.5 trillion deficits each of his past three years those same people say we’re not spending enough.  The media gave voice to those on the Left making the incredible accusation that President Bush knew of the 911 attacks in advance, mocked him of…AGHAST…reading to elementary school children when the attacks occurred, and gave a constant platform to a handful of Democrat operatives posing as New Jersey 911 widows.

Incredibly, those who spewed the hate for eight years immediately called for civility upon President Obama’s election, himself a culprit.  Obama has read to school children as did Bush, but used a teleprompter to do it.  The front page body counts have disappeared and the Patriot Act was extended by a Democrat Congress, Senate and President.  Those who whined of the war on terror against those who attacked us on 911 calling it a “war for oil” now remain quiet as we entered a war in Libya for European Oil.  Despite this, Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink and the “Jersey Girls” have long disappeared.  The accusations of cronyism with Halliburton and Blackwater have given rise to more government contracts for those companies by the Obama Administration without opposition from the Left, all while Obama has added scores of corporate cronies in the form of General Electric, the countless green companies that received massive amounts of stimulus money and are now defunct, like Fisker Automotive, Coachworks,  BrightSource and Solyndra, those who have received the stimulus funds and created jobs overseas such as SolFocus, or even those who created no jobs at all as is the case throughout the so-called “Green industry”.

Senators Obama and Clinton who maligned Gen Petreus have since promoted him in the hope he can replicate his successes now that they are in charge of the wars.  Those who continuously and shamefully denigrated President Bush over his honorable military service in the Air Guard, were the impetus behind elevating an inexperienced and unaccomplished man to the office of president, a man who not only lacks any military service but can’t even pronounce the characteristically military terms, “corpsman” and “infantry”.   After exaggerations by the Left that GITMO created more terrorists, persistent demands for its closure and promises to end the Iraq war, they continue unabated but now with utter and shameful silence from the Left.  Mr. Krugman and his sort who mocked every success and exaggerated every failure in the war on terror now contort themselves to make us believe it was President Obama himself who pulled the trigger on a few young pirates and Osama bin Laden.  Democrats who accused phantom others of questioning their patriotism for their opposition to the war now persistently and unabashedly question the patriotism of Americans who, in the spirit of our founders, believe in a limited federal government and lower taxes.  Those who tore our nation apart over waterboarding, a procedure since revealed to have affected only four of the most infamous terrorists, now refuse to acknowledge it was precisely that technique which harvested the information leading us to Osama bin Laden.

Yes Mr. Krugman, what happened after 9/11 was deeply shameful and it was largely due to your actions and those of your ilk.  Ironically, for obvious reasons the most shameful refuse to permit comments to their pap.
