It was no surprise to readers of The Planet Buzz when the Global Warming house of cards collapsed last week amidst the emails uncovered by whistleblowers at East Anglian University. Those emails reinforce what has been printed at “the Buzz” for months and confirm a pseudo science resembling religion rather than science. The email missives reveal a scientific universe where any challenge of the hypothesis was tantamount to blasphemy, where requests for raw data and computer modeling were denied, where data was manipulated to derive specific outcomes, where original data was destroyed to prevent replication of results-a fundamental tenet of the scientific method, where professional journals published studies despite inadequate or even non-existent peer review provided they furthered the editors’ preconceived political position on Global Warming, where a United Nation’s International Panel on Climate Change (UNIPCC) has forced scientists to tailor science to pre-determined and pre-written summaries addressing Global Warming. Many in the scientific community, the media and our government are in denial however, claiming the EAU emails have no impact on the overall science of Global Warming, when in fact they certainly must and do. The problem with such denial is that over the years EAU provided much of the data and studies central to the UNIPCC “findings” of the climate and man’s supposed impact upon it. As in the case of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme, these scientists have driven scientific findings with deceit and manipulation. Their scientific misdeeds put the methods of climate science and those of an entire scientific community in question. Such data manipulation has not only occurred at EAU, but at our nation’s National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), where the “Bernie Madoff of Global Warming”, James Hansen, has been caught red handed on several occasions manipulating temperature data to support his hypothesis of anthropogenic (man-made) global warming. Much like our recent mortgage crisis, where our government forced lenders to make 50% of their loans to those unable to repay and then saw those “toxic assets” bundled and traded as securities throughout the world to induce global economic collapse, the “toxic science” of Global Warming has seeped into study after study on the subject, influencing scientific outcomes. Until the science community completes a thorough purging of previous studies and findings and starts anew, climate science will never regain any degree of credibility. Despite the protests of most scientists worldwide, a small community of climate scientists began a pseudo-science that included an unprecedented concept called “the precautionary principle”, meaning that, when an activity raises threats of harm to the environment or human health, precautionary measures should be taken even if cause and effect relationships are not fully established scientifically. This is where science ends and political movements begin, since science is about proof of causation not correlation and consensus. The disregard for the scientific method in climate science has proven to produce bad science and even worse politics, which combine to form something approximating a religion rather than any recognizable form of science, and a handsomely rewarded religion at that. There have been taxpayer billions spent by governments to support EAU and other agencies conducting “climate research”. Hopefully the latest release of EAU emails will see a return to science and be the fatal dagger to the heart of the pseudo science related to Global Warming.
